Soot and tar build up in every flue that gets used. Left alone they narrow the flue, spoil the draw and eventually catch fire. Sweeping clears it out and lets us check the liner and the pot while the rods are up there.
It is the cheapest inspection you will ever have. We will tell you about a failing liner or a cracked pot long before it turns into a repair bill.
- How often
- Industry guidance is at least once a year for wood, and twice a year for bituminous house coal or heavy use. Smokeless fuels are usually once a year.
- No mess
- Sheets down and the vacuum running throughout. You should not be able to tell afterwards that anyone was there.
- Your certificate
- Issued before we leave. Home insurers increasingly want to see one after a chimney fire, and it is the only proof you have.
